About Us
Tom and Emily had, until recently, successful IT careers, working in a new media company ( www.homechoice.co.uk), based in Hertfordshire. In summer 2003, we decided to fulfill our dream of moving to France to run a private, luxury estate that we could share with guests. We have changed our lives to incorporate our interests into our work: we are both keen interior designers and love to entertain. Tom is an exceptional cook (his Boeuf Bourguignon is second to none) and loves to garden. We are both French-speaking and always happy to help organise days out, activities and special events.

We have a wide variety of interests. Tom is a keen mountain biker, so the Auvergne is a paradise of tracks and trails for him. Em is an excellent horsewoman (she has competed at Eventing on her own horses in the past), and so can help you to find the best places to go for the perfect ride out. Additionally, there are countless lakes nearby (feeding Tom’s windsurfing habit), all offering a variety of water sports from fishing (with an expert guide, if required) to sailing. We both enjoy the wonderful walks that the Auvergne has to offer. There’s a trail through the forest situated at the end of the Château grounds that eventually leads to the gorges that form the start of the Dordogne. Just 30 minutes away, the Sancy Mountains at Le Mont Dore provide a spectacular backdrop for a refreshing, but not grueling day’s walk.

We are very happy to help you to organise any activity – there is so much to do in the Auvergne, we appreciate that shortcuts to finding the best places can be very useful.

We know that holidays are important; we will do anything and everything possible to ensure that your stay with us is the best possible.

Savennes

Our search for the perfect property took us all over Southern and Central France, and lasted well over a year. We had just started to get downhearted when we saw the beautiful Château de Savennes - we knew instantly that it was the one for us.

We have been overwhelmed by the wonderful welcome that we have received from the community of Savennes. The people here have been truly kind, helpful and warm; we have made some firm friends. Madame Pierrot’s Bar-Restaurant is well worth a visit, especially at lunchtime - Madame’s hearty “menu du jour” is very popular with the locals.

Children & Pets
Our resident dog, Joe, is a retired Greyhound that has been with us for 4 years. He is officially the laziest dog in the world, but does like an occasional scratch behind the ears, should you wish to do so! Joe is restricted to remain in our private gardens – we appreciate that not everyone loves him as much as we do!

You are very welcome to bring well-behaved dogs to the Château. Please do mention it when booking if you are planning to bring a dog. Cats not so, we’re afraid this would just be too tempting for Joe, as an ex-racer he’s not particularly cat friendly!

We also have a number of chickens (these are in our private gardens) that provide us with fresh, free-range eggs daily. These are usually a big hit with children (and adults!), so you are very welcome to visit them – please just ask.

Children are most welcome at the Château. In fact most suites are ideally situated to provide extra accommodation that is separate but close by.

Local produce
Wherever possible, we work hard to provide you with food, wine etc. that has been locally produced. We work with suppliers to ensure that we get the freshest, best quality, naturally produced ingredients. We are always happy to provide cooking demonstrations to guests, incorporating discussions on the source of the ingredients used.

We think that using naturally produced ingredients adds something extra to the quality of our cooking. We hope you think so too!
